For the second consecutive year Music Unbuttoned sponsored the award for best band at the Salisbury Music Awards. As sponsors of this coveted award we promise to make the winning bands a Music Unbuttoned featured artist. For the second year running the foot stomping band otherwise known as the Stone Donkey Pilots took the top spot. True to our word the Stone Donkey Pilots are this months featured artist, making them the only band to be featured twice by Music Unbuttoned. However as a returning featured artist we decided to do things a little differently, so with the help of Thom Belk, the Winchester Gate and of course in2thelight photography we present you with a full one hour gig of the Stone Donkey Pilots. So sit back and see for yourself why the people of Salisbury think the Stone Donkey Pilots are so darn good. (Remember this is a YouTube video so it has never been easier to view this on your TV).

Before you watch this video why not look back at last year’s interview with the Stone Donkey Pilots? It is pleasing to read Paul express his ambition to perform at a festival, now knowing that they have gone on to perform at the Larmer Tree Festival. During their performance at the Larmer Tree Festival they drew a huge audience, proving that the ARC tent was too small to contain their funked up blues. Some people had to listen from outside the tent unable to squeeze themselves any closer to the stage. After appearing at the Larmer Tree Festival the Stone Donkey Pilots went on to perform all over the south of England enjoying the opportunity to support Dodgy who rose to fame during the Britpop era and Lúnasa who are internationally acknowledged as being the finest Irish instrumental band. The Stone Donkey Pilots ended 2013 with another cleanup at the Salisbury Music awards, their haul consisted of:

Stone Donkey Pilots

With such an exciting year of successes and musical adventures it was only a matter of time before the Stone Donkey Pilots would release an album. Early December 2013 the Stone Donkey Pilots hosted a launch party where they unveiled their debut album ‘So Darn Good’. It had been a year in the making and many fans could hardly wait to get their hand on a copy which made for an evening of abundant enthusiasm from both the audience and the band. It was two days after the album launch that we filmed the Stone Donkey Pilots full gig, which was hosted at the Winchester Gate in Salisbury. Our film has captured some of this excitement which had overflowed from the album launch a few days earlier.
